June 13, 2025 – The Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission (CEDC) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Denise Atkinson to its Board of Directors.
Denise Atkinson is the Founder and CEO of Tea Horse and Tipi Horse Connects, and is widely recognized for her ongoing commitment to advancing the inclusion, growth, and representation of Indigenous women and Peoples in business. A proud member of the Red Rock Indian Band, an Ojibwe First Nation in Northwestern Ontario, Denise brings a powerful combination of lived experience and professional expertise to her new role.
With over 20 years of experience in the federal public service, Denise is a trusted business leader and community advocate. She has a strong track record of fostering economic empowerment and supporting diversity in business development, particularly within Indigenous and women-led enterprises. Her affiliations include the Canadian Aboriginal & Minority Supplier Council (CAMSC), the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB), the Anishinaabe Business Professional Association (ABPA), Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) Canada, and the National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development (NCAIED).
