Update for Fort McMurray Area Oilsands Camps

(Fort McMurray, AB – May 23, 2016) – The Regional Emergency Operations Centre has endorsed Alberta Agriculture and Forestry’s (AAF) recommendation to allow a phased re-entry to the following areas listed below. Assessment work to return the following camps to operations may begin immediately:

AOSTRA Road Corridor:

• Suncor Baseline and MacKay River Camps
• Brion (all) Camps
• Birch Mountain Camp
• Sunshine Camp
• Production facilities accessed by AOSTRA Road

Hwy 63 (South of Fort McMurray) Road Corridor:

• AOC
• Hangingstone
• Great Sand Tiger
• JACOS
• Grayling Creek Fire Base

Guest occupancy is not permitted until AAF and Alberta Health Services inspections have been completed to ensure safe conditions for occupants.

The phased re-entry for all oilsands camps in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is now underway.

Please abide by the current travel restrictions from the Government of Alberta regarding travel to and from the region.

The mandatory evacuation for the Fort McMurray and Anzac areas remains in place.
