WHAT: World Indigenous Peoples Conference on Education – EXCELLENT PHOTO AND INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITIES WITH INTERNATIONAL INDIGENOUS EDUCATORS!
On July 24, Indigenous educators from around the globe will travel to Toronto for the World Indigenous Peoples Conference on Education (WIPCE). This international gathering is expected to attract over 3,000 highly regarded experts and scholars, who will share successes and strategies in culturally grounded Indigenous education.
The theme of this year’s conference is “A Celebration of Resilience.” Participants have been asked to discuss the role and impacts of Indigenous education in truth and reconciliation, which has become a global movement. Within the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action report are several recommendations that deal directly with education. WIPCE hopes to address these, among other recommendations about the preservation of Aboriginal languages and culture in July.
Media are encouraged to submit an application to attend by Friday July 21st to guarantee admission to the conference. Our media policy, media kit, and general requirements call all be found online at http://snpolytechnic.com/wipce2017/media.
