Yellow Quill partners with Alberta paramedical company

Alberta Paramedics and Yellow Quill First Nation to provide industrial paramedical services in Saskatchewan

SASKATOON – A new joint venture business agreement was signed today between the Yellow Quill First Nation and Canadian Industrial Paramedics (CIP) of Alberta.

Yellow Quill Industrial Paramedics is a fifty-one percent First Nations owned company that will supply standardized on-site paramedical services to Saskatchewan oil and gas, construction and industrial work sites.

Revenues will fund community programs and services such as the Yellow Quill Safe Home, a temporary residence for youth under duress.

“We’ve been waiting for a fitting business opportunity that makes sense for Yellow Quill for some time,” said Chief Larry Cachene. “This venture will provide specialized medical support to industry while creating meaningful employment for our members.”

The company’s first undertaking is a labour market study focusing on high school and post-secondary student interest in the Emergency Medical Technician field in Saskatchewan. The partners will approach accredited Saskatchewan education institutions to provide EMT education for workers.

“We make Aboriginal awareness a priority,” said CIP president Barry Croft. The company has partnered with First Nations on similar ventures in Alberta and British Columbia. “Our business approach is to be a relevant contributor in the regions where we operate, including Aboriginal communities.”

Canadian Industrial Paramedics provides standardized immediate on-site medical care in the oil and gas, construction, and other industrial sectors in throughout Alberta.
